Swing Fundamentals

I’ve seen written and heard things regarding the golf swing that I find hard will work except by accident. Anything I attempt to teach beginners, medium or advanced players together with children has been tried and tested with success.

If you have a headache and need an aspirin would you take the whole bottle?

A tiny change in a golf swing can make a huge difference however, the natural inclination is to begin to overdo that tiny change that has brought success and soon we are confused again!

What did I do wrong? Oh you looked up! How many times have you heard this?—one of the favorite of golf’s alibi’s for a bad shot; but the fact is that by the time you’ve looked up you’ve already made the mistake that caused that terrible shot. The fact is that very few ‘top players’ actually see the ball when they hit it. Even the great Ben Hogan stated that he lost sight of the ball during his downswing.

How to place your hands, with the correct pressure, and position your fingers on the club is perhaps the first fundamental of having a good chance of hitting a nice golf shot. From there- aiming, the positioning ‘placing’ of your feet, hips shoulders, arms, head and legs are all important fundamentals that must be clearly explained and practiced carefully in order to play good competitive golf.

A good golf coach is very often a refuge from the complexities and emotional traumas, and a good golf lesson can inspire and help to put things in perspective once more.

A successful solid golf swing is built on basic sound mechanics, which will allow you to hit the ball better than you ever hit it before.
