30 Aug Putting is crucial
Every golfer has experienced the frustration of missing that all-important putt and is familiar with the disappointment of losing hard-won strokes on the green. Putting is the make or break of any round of golf, though it is an area of our game that often gets neglected.
To get the feel of striking the ball on the upstroke when putting, practice with a sand wedge for a while. With the ball positioned opposite the inside of your left heel, try to strike the ball so that the leading clubface edge makes contact with the middle of the ball.
Unless impact is perfect, the ball jumps and bobbles towards the hole. Only when the roll is smooth and even is you’re putting stroke correct.
Out of Bounds: Now if Mark Twain was a golfer he would have completed his quote on life in the following manner: “Life does not consist mainly, or even largely, of facts and happenings. It consists mainly of the stream of thought that is forever flowing through one’s head, especially when (with many watching) standing on the first tee of tournament day preparing to tee-off.”
